Nepalese President Bidya Devi Bhandari has arrived in Dhaka on a two-day state visit to attend the Golden Jubilee of Independence and the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. This is the first visit of a Nepalese President to Bangladesh.
She arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport (HISA) around 10:00 am on Monday. There, President M Abdul Hamid will greet her. She will also be given a guard of honor at this time.
Apart from Nepal’s foreign minister and foreign secretary, Bidya Devi will be accompanied by high-ranking officials.
On the first day of the visit, the President of Nepal will pay homage to the martyrs of the Liberation War by visiting the National Memorial at Savar from the airport. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen will meet her at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital today.
Bidya Bhandari will join the event as a special guest at the National Parade Ground this afternoon. President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will also present there.
The Nepalese President will hold a meeting with President M Abdul Hamid at Bangabhaban in the capital in the evening. Several Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) is also expected to be signed in the presence of the two heads of state.
Later, she will take part in a dinner at Bangabhaban. A cultural program is organized before the dinner at Darbar Hall.
Before returning to Kathmandu, Nepal on March 23, President Bidya Devi Bhandari will visit the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum.
